The Okmulgee Public Library (the “Library”) serves the educational informational, and recreational needs of the Okmulgee community. Free access to the Internet supports and complements the Library in providing this service. Computer time is limited; therefore, chat room use is prohibited. The Internet however is an unregulated medium and some of the material may be offensive, disturbing, and/or illegal. The Library has no control over the content, quality, or accuracy of the material accessed through the Internet and is not liable for it’s content.
It is not acceptable to use the Okmulgee Public Library Internet access for any purposes which violate U.S. or state laws, to transmit malicious, threatening, obscene or harassing materials, or to interfere with or disrupt network users, services, or equipment. Viewing of certain materials in the library may be considered improper. The Library reserves the right to terminate an Internet session at any time. While the Library hopes that all Library patrons will be good Internet citizens, the Library may restrict access to the Internet or revoke library privileges for improper use of Internet services.
The Library does not supervise and cannot be responsible for the children’s usage of the Internet. The Okmulgee Public Library recognizes that it is the parents’ or guardians’ responsibility to supervise their child or children’s Internet session and to let their children know if there are materials that they are not allowed to access. Parents are encouraged to discuss email safety and the dissemination of personal information on the Internet.
